first ever car detail

hi gents now the car is back on form  i want to treat it to a good going over  with  a clay/ polish/ wax if that is thev right order . can any one tell me what is best  i am really looking forwardb to doing this  as i think me an my lad  are gonna go to the bash at boddelwyddan castle and stay over in the tent. so want the car looking as good as i can get it .also what do you do first  ie wash /clay /polish/ then wax . i hope some one will share their knowledge of detailing  oh by the way the car is 98  mk3 gti 8v europa blue mica  . cheers gents i look forward to any replies  vmech .
