Positioning of speedo cable

Hi all i am replacing my speedo cable and would like to know the original positioning of it! I have seen them been re-positioned in various ways, just would like to know the best.

at the moment my original one is throught the bulk head, over/next the throttle and around the front of the engine, under the water pipe and clutch cable!

All the MK2s I've seen have it routed this way, GTI or not.  I clamped mine to the back of the engine bay under the rain scuttle, and it helped stop the needle jerking so much (cos me cable is buggered)

Cheers mate.  I just put it back the way it was, works fine
