Hi chaps, i really need help, ive recently fitted an alarm to my car with my mate, i half assed let him do most of it just because i was lazy but i wasnt happy so i re done most of it..
now, the alarm has remote start, which was ok to wire up, but there are 2 wires in the ignition switch that seem to mess things up..
currently i have wired them both to live because the remote start wouldnt work without them both being live, now when i crank by the key it will not spark until i let the key go back to on position.
can someone just explain to me aside from the main power feed, the starter feed, what are the other wires that go into the key switch and what do they actualy do.
i know one was live when ign on but dead when crank, and the other was dead when crank but live when on..
the annoying thing is he knows in his head how to sort it out but he cant be arsed to help now..
its just annoying having to crank it over stop and hope it fires in time, normaly i have to crank it 3 or 4 times to get it to start, its easier to remote start it every time, but i dont want to look like a nob on every occasion.. it was only meant to be a little gimmick.
I was just thinking, shall i just give the coil and ignition module its live that it wants? because im pretty sure the problem is no spark while cranking.
i know this is so sparatic and not very informative, but if anyone can just tell me what they know about these wires it might help me figure out what i need to do. i cant even find them in the haynes. but im proberly not looking hard enought.
its a driver, but i think its all the same on anything with an ignition module. 1991.
