ok ive managed to get the golf back on its feet with loads of hassle on the way first bit was to get the box for it but 5 hours of driving from banbury to sleaford and back dont ask !! my mates satnav leaves alot to be desired ! any way seeing as ive never swapped a box b4 it was a little dawnting but got there in the end with the help of mr haynes and copious cups of tea from my misses. so managed it all on my tod got new box on all bolted up nice. wasnt end to my troubles tho decided to start her up hoorayy fired up straight the way great i thought treid to get it in gear and got third where first was spose to be but was expecting that so turned it off and had another cuppa and a sandwhich mmmm cheese,pickle and grease lol. one thing i had forgot to do and didnt know about was to bolt the gear box earth on it was on the box but had just got trapped so it had earth to turn it over but it came dislodged some how so when i tried again it fried the ecu great !!!! flooded the engine till it was impossible to turn over so took the first plug out new i was in trouble petrol poured out all over the drive misses not to happy and the teas stopped anyway got feul out of cylinders and another trip out this time to azim in cov nice bloke sorted me right out with a good ecu. fitted the new ecu sorted the linkage out double checked all bolts oil changed and gearbox oil changed fired up and is alllll good
