Electric aerial

Searched the forums and can find abit about this subject but just want to be sure before i go and buy something and it doesn't fit.
I have a mk2 golf gti 1989 and want to put an electric aerial on the wing as the original hand one is bent and not moving so smoothly. Found one on ebay and was wondering if anybody has tried this one yet and what were the results?
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=130300084168
Also read there is abit of umming and arring about the hole size. 18mm or 22mm. Think mines an 18mm and i've messaged the seller to find out which this is but it comes with like 15 fitments so looks promising.
Any help on the subject greatly appreciated,
Rich

Yes should fit, make sure you fit the bracket at the bottom to stop it moving around, should have 3 wires, earth and live plus a switched live which you can run from your headunit.

I've fitted the same aerial (but from a different seller). My cars the same year as well.
Really easy to do, bout 20min job.
Quality is fine, heard they last a couple of years then die but for the price I cant complain

Gloves88, did you remove the wing or just take the wheel off and liner from inside and do it like that?

wheel and arch liner is all you need to do. mine looked like that and lasted for about 2 years before it packed in, no idea if it was the same make though was years ago. certanly was very cool, but i never actually used the radio the whole time it was on there so when it broke i just unplugged it and left it down

Well i wouldn't go as far as saying it was a 20 minute job but it is done and looks amazing! Find myself just turning the radio on and off for no apparent reason haha.
Biggest ball ache was the jointing of the co ax cable as the aerial came with the aftermarket fitment and not the standard radio one (if you get what i mean) fixed that at work though using their gear
