Hi, Mk3 Servicing tips please.
« on: 26 April 2009, 12:35 »
Hi, Im a new mk3 gti 16v owner which is in need of a service and a tune up. To keep cost's down I'm going to try and do the service myself as I dont think it's running as well as it should. Can anyone please help or offer any advice as to what I should do as I'm on a budget at the moment. PS I'm not the most mechanicly minded person so a "dummies guide" is needed.

Thank's, Matt

If its a new car to you, I'd change all the belts (inc. timing belt), oil, oil filter, fuel filter, air filter, spark plugs, brake fluid and coolant. For the sake of about £60-80, its well worth it.

Have a look on the first post here,

Its got a list of the servicey stuff you should do.

Cheers Ben, I've just had a good luck through your post, really good job! I think I might be getting a friend of a friend to do mine as it's got an oil leak aswell and I think it need's a wheel bearing! Next time round I'll have a pop!
