Rear brake pads - how long should they last?

how many miles should rear pads be good for?

my history says 70000 miles.. and at 130000 I've jut put a new set in  :wink:

only done 37k on mine and i reckon there's not much (if any!) left on them??

it depends on the driver but that seems low mileage!  I would check the handbrake mechs to see if there still ok!

I have changed mine recently when it ticked over 125k, and they looked like they could of been the originals. lol

Rear brakes are meant to be 30% of the load on the fronts. On average, the fronts should last 20k - so simple maths says they should last 60k ish.

But going off figures is silly, just look at them ;) You don't want them to end up like this ...

37k on a set of rear pads doesn't sound like anything to be concerned about, especially if the discs are old.

well the discs are old (i've never changed them and done 64k on them, don't know how long they'd been on before that!!)

so i guess that's it then!!

out of interest i never carry rear passengers or loads...i guess that would require more rear braking??

what about the handbrake, i almost always leave the handbrake off (except when on a hill  :grin:) would this have any effect on the rear brakes?? :huh:

Just had my 1st rear pads changed at 63000 miles.
