Bike Carbs

sorry if i seem stupid , so that head shown there i can put onto my 1800 8v , what happends to the alternator as that mounts onto teh top left of the mk2 head and also what happeneds with the 8v gti exhaust manifold and down pipe does that fit ?

Exhaust and manifold fit.

Not 100% about the alternator, as mine's on a 2.0 2E block.

oh right i doubt it would work then otherwise would of seen more people have a cross over head on a 8v that must be why alot just mount them above the exhaust manifold and use some pipes to get ram air to the carbs  ,

Looking at photos of my car when it had the counterflow head on it, I think the alternator set up from the 1.8 would work - the adjuster bar bolts up to the bolt-on lifting eye.  Even if it doesn't work immediately it wouldn't be hard to fabricate an adjuster.  It's not rocket science.

seen std alt used with webbers on crossflow  so will work with bike carbs.

as for mounting the  carbs above the exhaust you can tell you used to work for tsr.     

it's a bloody nasty horrrible botch,  the carb throats are very close to the firewall,  there isn't room to get a good manifold in there the carbs and a pipe,  you choudl dent the bulkhead but then if you drive it hard theer is a massive radiant heat issue when you slow down

hmmm well sounds something i mite still do i got the carbs ready just need to run the 8v in , rather than soruce the head and solve the problem with alternator i think i mite have to bring my VR6 swap in a bit earlyer

there are two option for doing it, nether i like.        get teh carbs out from behing the engine,  with a manifold with long runners comeing up and round,

or install them behing the engine just make sure you have plenty of heat sheilding

i think try the heat shield idea i was thinking that but didnt want to say incase you thought i mite be some botch job animal , then if that fails get another head so they can mount at the front near the grill ,
