Mk3 Cabriolet power hood problems
« on: 01 April 2009, 22:43 »
got a mk3 cabriolet 1.8 with electric pack. The hood has never worked and always been manual since I have had it. All the pump and motors are there but the plastic casing that holds the fluid was leaking. found on ebay a replacement plastic case fitted it and still the hood will not raise up or go down there is more resistance but not enough for the motor to work. Does any one know a guide on how to bleed the system as opening the screws on the motor and loads of air comes out any help be very grateful cheers Robin

Is it set up like a mk1 one Robi?
If so..
Turn the thumbscrew on the pump housing anticlockwise until it stops
Manually lower and raise the hood, you should hear it push air out like when bleeding brakes
then turn thumbscrew back to tighten check operation etc..  :undecided:

Hi Dinx I believe so as the replacement seal and plastic case are for a mk1 hood motor also. will give it ago and see what happens also do ytou need special fluid for it or can you use any hydralic oil?
