Odd Idle
« on: 30 March 2009, 18:29 »
Car is a mk2 valver.

Had a leaking rocker cover gasket which has just been replaced but now the idle is playing up. The ISV hasn't been perfect for a while (sometimes won't idle at all) but usually giving the ISV a sharp tap with my hand sorted it. Anyway now the idle will jump about all over the place between 1k and 3.5k rpm. Odd thing is that if I dip the clutch it will stablise and act fine. Also with the clutch engaged the oil temp goes a bit mad (was reading 160 today!) but if it dip it it goes back to normal. Something electrical I'm guessing but don't know what. Earths all seem fine too.

Ideas anyone?

check the earth wires to the head and gearbox, as well as the sensor wires to the head
