kent 280 cam
« on: 17 July 2004, 13:04 »
Hi there
I'am running a kent gs1 280 cam in my mk1 1600 gti and was wondering if anyone had an idea as to what i should set the ignition timing too. Also any ideas as to why the car struggles to accelerate past 90 mph (the car is running an 1800 gearbox!!

Cheers

To get the best out of your set up, take it to a rolling road and have them set the timing and fuel for the best power. The cam timing is as important to have set correctly as the ign timing, you will have to have the timing specks for the cam, a degree wheel and a dial test indicator for checking tdc accurately. (or set the ign timing on the road, advance the distributer until the engine just starts to pink and then back it off a couple of degrees).
