Rear Parcel Shelf Rattle
« on: 07 March 2009, 22:41 »
Had to take my rear parcel shelf out to carry a TV & stand and when I put it back, it rattles like a proper bar steward and I'm not sure why. Everything appears to be fitting fine and I cannot see any reason for it doing this. Can anyone suggest a way of sorting this out? The rattling is doing my head in and it keeps my Mrs awake on long journeys...

It almost 'clips' into place on the side shelves, has it definately seated properly?

Put some black insulating tape along the 2 sides that the shelf sits on, worked for my old 16v

Try putting some foam (2 inch of foam-ish) sandwiched between the wheel arch and the folding seat on either side. Mine rattled and it turned out to be the locking mech of the rear seat so i used the foam to keep seat back against the catch.
