Where is the Diagnostic Link Connector Located
« on: 19 July 2004, 17:49 »
I have a mk3 VR6 and am trying to find the Diagnostic Link Connector because i am building a circuit so i can plug my pc into the car. VW agents are too expensive!!!

Does anyone know if this car is OBD-II compatable.

The socket is to the left of the ashtray , above the ciggie lighter.
OBDI for cars up to 1995
1996 onwards cars have OBDII.

1. Remove the ashtray completely [ use the button on the bottom ]
2. there is a black plastic panel above the cig lighter that slides to the right [ i.e where the ash tray was ].

You have to use opto isolators on the circuit to prevent overload on the serial port of your computer .

The car is OBD-II compliant
