Tyre puncture sensor fault...
« on: 10 March 2009, 17:01 »
Hi all,

Just brought a 08 plate 5 door in black and will be collecting it next week but the dash is showing a warning light indicating a puncture. This has been found to be false as there is no puncture in any of the tyres. The dealer is replacing this for me under warranty while the car is serviced prior to collection.
Is this a common fault? The dealer says it is?
Are there any other faults i should be aware of?

Cheers

... or it's had a flat tyre and he doesn't know how to reset it. The light stays on even after the tyre is inflated, has to be reset manually.

Ahh..I would hope he knows that  :undecided:. I'll call him t'moro just to make sure. Thanks for the info. By the way, is resetting a simple job?

Manually check and correct all four tyre pressures - then get in car, turn on the ignition, wait for all the warning lights and seat belt warning to go out - then press and HOLD for at least 2 seconds (and watch the speedo at the same time) - you should see the TPMS warning light briefly flash in the speedo, and hear a 'bong' to confirm it has been set.  If this doesn't work, then the TPMS will need to be 'initially adapted' - same as before, but hold down BOTH the TPMS and the ESP buttons at the same time - for about 5 seconds.

You can try this yourself.

Not collecting the car until next Thursday and the dealer has already replaced the sensor? so no chance to try it out for myself. I've printed off a copy of the reply for future reference.
