Forgive my ignorance, but if i have declared my vehicle SORN, does this mean im not allowed to leave it parked in a parking space on a side street round the corner where i live?

if this is the case? can i raise it off the ground on bricks?

ive just collected my mk2 after a year in storage, but i have no intention of driving it at the moment till i get it sorted at a garage, and my daily is a mk3, so its gonna have to sit there for a wee while

do i have to tax it just to have it sitting there?

It can be parked in your driveway, your garage or a private road with the owners permission. It cannot be parked on the public road, a public carpark, a public right of way or a grass verge.

If it is a private space then it shouldn't be a problem. If it is designated as Public Highway then no you can't.

Nope. Not at all. IIRC not even one wheel can be on private property and if anyone sees it and checks there is no tax, they'll crush it. Not worth the risk.

 my drive is private property, as is my front garden, kept many a SORN car there without issue

I was about to say something similar. If you cannot even park on private property, then your garage, your driveway, your garden and if it takes your fancy, even your kitchen is out of bounds for car storage.I suppose you could always hang the car up on sky hooks, but then the government will be taxing air in time.
