They have sent me 3 maps.

Original one
Joint type dsg/manual map
Lower BHP map.

Said there is not much difference between my original and the joint dsg/manual map.

Did you find any difference?

Many thanks

What will they send me?

Do they send a map with a graph?

Also the original map on the bluefin how do I keep that?

Cheers

They can either load a different map onto their server .... and you use the Bluefin software on your computer to load it onto the Bluefin device which you then plug into the car to upload ....

OR

What they did with me - as I couldn't make my mind up between the old and the new maps ..... they effectively emailed me 2 different maps. I first had to email them the 'base' standard map from my device so they could correctly set up the 'new' maps.

I had to get the 'base' map off the Bluefin and onto my desktop then email it to them as an attachment .... Once done - in all of about 45 minutes -  they emailed me back the 2 revised maps.

I then use the Bluefin software I have on the computer to put one of the revised maps back onto the Bluefin device.  It is now ready to upload to the car.

It is not as difficult as my explanation probably sounds ... and means as I now have both maps on my computer desktop that I can choose between as I wish. If I want to change the map I just have to load it onto the Bluefin from my computer and then reflash the car

Each uprated map they send you also contains a copy of your original map with the original factory settings so that you can always reflash to your original standard no matter which uprated map is applied.

I've done it a couple of times and it's easy.

Yes, loads !

Standard now feels slooooooow ....

The 'lower' torque remap that I have on the car at the moment is noticeably quicker than standard up to 4K revs then loads quicker thereafter - it really pulls hard to the red line.

Their latest DSG remap - which is the one that's effectively now combined with the manual map is much more aggressive than the older map - much quicker as the turbo spools up and pushes you back hard in the seat.  It needs dry conditions and warm tyres .... and then the car only just manages to deploy the power .... but wow !

I'm saving this map for the moment until the weather means I can use it's power more often   I was lucky to have it during a 'nicer' spell of weather so know it is an awesome map - just not for poor conditions if you don't want to have to be careful with the throttle.

If you look at   http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=101384.0 you can see the rolling road graphs from my 2 maps .....

I guess as I had the original manual box map there probably wont be that much difference in the combined map as the torque was reduced for dsg box?

The new DSG map is the same as the manual map - the torque wasn't reduced because the gearbox couldn't cope .... it was reduced because the ECU had a torque limit which cut in if it was over a certain amount.  Superchips have now got around that limiter .... thus the new map has alot more torque lower down.

They - and other firms who remap - say the gearbox can take alot more torque than people think.

The Superchips map looks similar to Revo and APR ones I have seen .... if those companies all think the torque levels are OK running as they do then I am happy enough

What sort of power do you think the lower map produces?

Tried it today and the car more drivable, turbo appears to spin up more in second gear that may be in my imagination though!

What do you think?

No idea - I would ask them ... I am sure they would have RR'd it.

If it is the lower torque DSG map like I am using the settings at the top end are the same as the other maps - i.e. about 300bhp.  It is not the top end that defines how this map feels it is the lower levels of torque in the midrange.

Look at my two graphs - I can't stress the difference enough ..... if yours felt perkier then perhaps it is the map i am using ....

Hi,

Just got a reply from SChips re BHP on the lower map.

Quoted around the 270 bhp mark.

Used it all weekend, bloody brilliant map, just right for the car, usable without the usual wait, wait, wait, 4000 rpm then take off!

BMW 335i didnt stand a chance!

Well chuffed.
