smeary windscreen any help please
« on: 01 March 2009, 01:06 »
Hey guys, was sifting through a few posts and can't find exactly what I'm looking for....

Think my windscreen got sprayed with diesel or some such greasy sh!t whilst driving the other day. When use the wipers it clears water but sort of 'blooms and beads' and is difficult to see then clears again with wind speed.

Basically bought new wipers but before fitting wondered if there was a decent cleaner/cutter suitable for windscreen, that won't break the bank, don't want to use vinegar

Any relevant suggestions gratefuly received

The best windscreen process I've used was..

1) Wash with hot soapy water (try to avoid those shampoos that have wax in them e.g. turtlewax)
2) A good buff with Autoglym Glass Polish. Do it at least twice, leaving to dry each time and then buff off the dust. This wax-like curing time seems to really "suck off" the grime.
3) Finish off with a a spray of Autoglym fast glass as the glass polish seems to leave a few traces of product behind. Wipe off with very clean microfibre. Fast glass is also really good to wipe the wiper blades with.

I don't normally use AG, but their glass products are great and cheap. Polish plus fast glass would cost about £10, and lasts AGES.

i'd 'cut' the glass before using any AG polish or other polish products on it if the contamination is that bad...

doesn't need to be spensive...

then AG polish or megs fast glass or, if you can get hold of it, stoner invisible glass
