have been browsing around these forums for quite a bit and have found an epic amount of great, usefull information, along with the pointless banter which is always great!!
Ive been dubbing for a little over two years now, first car let alone VW was your bog standard 3 door mk2 golf cl. to cut a long story short, that gracefully died and is now undergoing a 1.8T convertion by a friend of mine - and good luck to him!
Currently ive got a mk2 GTI 5dr 90 spec, which apparently as standard came with small bumpers? so i guess its had a big bumper convertion quite early in its life.
I picked the car up after sheer luck after searching through pistonheads and sealed the deal for 300 notes.
the standard 8v pulled like a train and i loved it. but as usual, MORE POWER! so the usual 2.0 bottom end swap and a set of high lift cams later im satisfied with the reliable amount of power from it.
The full list of mods so far would take me about a year to type out, so i wont bore you with that.
Plans for the future with it. replace all the arches and trim (lost it all after a jolly drive down some country lanes, and literary lost it all! couldn't find them or any thing....very strange). Standalone management for the engine, and just generally tidying things up and making it look respectable again.
any way, thought id introduce my self and my car. hopefully i can be of use to some people and, you be of use to me!
