Leather clean & feed plus rear bench removal....

This week sometime should see the delivery of my Black VR Leathers with rear headrests for my 8v GTi  :smiley:

Before i fit them i want to give them a really good clean up and some sort of 'leather feed' to get them as good as possible.

Any recommendations for products to do this?

Also i've had the front seats out of my car and door cards off before but never the rear bench, is it easy enough to remove?

No idea what you can treat the leather with, but I'll be keeping an eye on this thread cus my handbrake needs doing!

I can help fit the rear seats if you want. You'd probably have to drive to mine though cus I have no petrol at the mo :grin:

Mine's only a 1.4 SE but I've added a leather handbrake from a VR6 :smiley:

If you need help fitting that rear bench just drop me a pm :)

LOL, my username is VR6-Joe because I own a VR6 Highline aswell, just can't afford to insure it so it's for sale :sad:

The rear seat is fairly easy to take out.

There's 4 (I think?) allen key bolts at the front edge of the seat, removing these will mean you can now remove the bottom section of the seat.
To remove the rear section is slightly harder (or I thought it was, but I was 17 when I removed mine and had never owned a Mk3 before).
If you fold the rear section down you can see there's 2 clips in the centre of the rear seats, I removed them with a flat headed screwdriver. Then the outer ones (where the doors are) are pretty obvious!

I use Simoniz leather care on my bimmer, not too expensive and does what it says it does!

autoglym do a leather cleaner and a leather feed (essential really!).... or if you want to save some cash buy some saddle soap from wilkos etc to clean (best stufff by miles)

That's it, you'll see the clips, push them back with a screw driver. Putting back in, is put it in and push, clips will fold over themselves.

Thanks BB, i really rate Autoglym polish (especially on my red paintwork) so i'll get some of their feed and the saddle soap from wilko for cleaning it first.

Thanks also everyone else for the tips on the rear bench!
