Jumping Tacho, Lurching, Missfiring '94 1.4i CL

Hi,

Serious problems with my Mk3.
Started having problems with it not starting. Happened twice in 1 days.
RAC pointed to Ingition coil & Amp unit.

We decided to change worn and corroded HT leads, distributor cap and rotor arm.

Then I started having the lurching, spluttering engine. Leaping tachometer. Engine/battery/oil lamps have a party, but that may just be when it cuts out. The flashing oil light dilema sounds farmiliar, but with more lurching. Happend if revs below ~2000rpm.

Changed Ignition coil & amp.

No change.

Had crypton guy do his thing, ECU reported throttle potentiometer fault logged. Engine cut out during test, logged Hall Transducer fault (poss intermitent). Lambda probe logged constant failure.

Unable to receive live data from ECU.

Side note: Crypton showed Acceleration kV, kV rise and Power balance failures. (??)

Read about some sort of ecu relay (no 30 or no 109 or something)

"I have a '95 VW Passat. First I noticed the windshield wipers not functioning properly. Whenever that happened, I here a clicking noise near the fuse box. Yesterday when I drove it, the engine was lurching sporatically. Tachometer needle was jumping. Engine light going on and off sporadically. So when I finally get home safely without the car shutting off on me, I hear this buzzing noise. I follow the noise to the fuse box. I pull out a few fuses to see if they are burnt. None of them are. There's a leak in my dashboard and the water falls near the fusebox. That's yet another problem. But I then place my fingers on teh relays above the fuses. And when I get to relay 109, it's buzzing and the vibration is heavy. So does this mean it's fried? I'd love to replace it and feel like I can drive without worry again."

Thanks,

James.
