Run it like the spaniards
« on: 07 February 2009, 18:26 »
I bought my daily in october last year, it was on its last legs and caught fire on the way home. Ever since it just throws everything possible at me. I just keep patching it up with that "it'll do attitude" but I think it wants to die about now.  I have a REALLY load banging/crunching/pinging noise coming from the centre of the bay, which is worse when cornering slightly. I had a ganders today and all I could find was a loose hub nut. :lipsrsealed:  I have ruled out driveshafts as its not the right noise and hasnt progressively gotten worse, it has just kind of happened. The noises/earth shaking clunking is reminiscent of when the diff blew up on my other car, but when that happened it was leaking gear oil for a week or so before hand and there is none of that here.  So im thinking either both wheel bearings are fubered or the diff is on its way.  The car doesnt veer off to one side when this is happening either, but can be heard for around a mile! Your suggestions please.

I know it wouldnt have helped with the general welfare of the bearing, but it just seems too much noise and too central for it to be that.  I may just wait to see what falls off, and then I shall know!

Rod-change gearbox?

Crownwheel making preparations to get out and about maybe?
