Evening all!
« on: 04 February 2009, 18:52 »
Hi there,

I currently own a 306 D-turbo....so i wont bore you all with that (because i think it is the most boring car known to man). But im looking to get myself a Mk2 GTi 8v sometime soon. Just happen to come across this site, and being a member of the 306 website and the Morris minor website (yea i have a 1957 4 door Minor!!) I thought it best to register and get some ideas of what to look for etc. First off though, I suppose id better talk a bit about myself.
Im an 18yr old student, living in North devon, currently waiting to finalise a place at University to do Motorsport Engineering. In my spare time Im currently building a Morris minor hot rod....nothing too amazing, just a tuned up A series, up graded brakes, wider rear axel, new suspension etc etc. I also have a 1977 yamaha RD250 to radge about on when its sunny.....so not very often. The daily drive at the moment is a 1995 306 Dturbo.......errrr, yea well never mind eh, better than my old Rover 213!! Hobbies, other than tinkering around with old heaps, included beer drinking, playing guitar, chasing women and laughing at my friends when they crash because they've been driving like idiots!
So, I know that insurance is going to be a complete and total bugger for a Mk2 GTi, are there any ways of gettin the old premium down? As I'd really like to own and tinker with one!

thanks,
radge

hello and welcome

seeing as though insurance is going to be an issue, I would probably go for an 8v Mark 2. Prices seem to have dropped a bit slightly at the moment so keep your eye out and you might be able to get yourself a bargain.
