did vag com say left and right "mechanical fail"? if thats the case then its most likely still something to do with the rings. you want to make sure theyre fitted flush..
could be te sensors though.. are they plugged in??.
oh, and its fine to drive, it will be just like a normal car with no abs.

hi jamie

turns out it was the rings, the ABS went out a few yards down the road  which is very good news. downside now is a very loud knocking noise from the left rear which i think may be the wheel bearings shot <<< only had em in 2 days anyway it was to dark to start messing around again so tools packed up for tonight.

Did you let a hammer anywhere near them when doing your hubs?  Just a thought as sufficient bang will de-magnetize them causing them to fail.

yep there was a lot of banging and swearing. turns out it was the ABS rings when i removed the old ones i bent them out of shape only by a fraction and this caused them to fail. i should of put new ones on in the first place £8.00 each isnt worth the hastle

thanks guys just need to sort out a loud knocking from the left rear so still not drivable.

ok looks to be all sorted the loud noise was a loose caliper carrier (left-side) anyway both sides re-done with new bolts a heavy duty spring washer & also used lock-tite so they will never move now.

cheers dudes
