Highline problems
« on: 26 January 2009, 21:27 »
First post so hello
I've got an 08 car that I bought through a broker (mate of a mate type deal) and it was meant to have the highline fitted but didn't come with it for some reason. I ended up getting some cash back off the broker and through another mate of a mate at a VW garage got hold of a new mk5 GTI highline unit. However, on fitting it the unit doesn't appear to code because my car apparently has immobiliser 5 but the highline seems to be 4.

Does anyone know if it's possible to get the two of them to work together?
If not, anyone want to buy a highline dash?

Cheers.

Well i tried to upgrade mine last year to the highline unit, ended up in aright mess... basically it can be done but with expert advice and loads of money

VW wouldnt touch it, they also wouldnt release the immobilizer codes without going to the dealers, so the install would have to be done on the premises by an aftermarket company but then of course you warrenty is gone.. got into sucha mess with it i jus got rid after wasting like £350

Avoid it if you can.. as only VW will have your immobiliser sck number and they said you would not be able to use all the functions anyway as it wont be supported

tbh if it wasn't for the fact that VW have refused to take back the highline dash I wouldn't bother with it but now the cash is spent on the part I'd like it fitted. Have posted on that other thread too, cheers for the link.

Has per the other post Simon get it put on ebay cos it is no use it will not code up,  dash clusters above march 06 will not code up due to new security...you need to find a 2005 cluster from a gti then find someone local or if your willing to travel someone with the right tools to do it,  Ive just put an highline cluster in mine and it works perfectly with all the functions through the wiper stalk. the fitting took me about 1hour to do including coding the keys and obtaining the skc's from the clusters.
