Would love to get the RS4 but with the kind of short town trip I do it just wouldnt be economical enough... esp in these tough times :embarassed:

Sorry to hear about your health fella.

Thanks.  Sh!t happens, I'm just going through a particularly bad time at the mo, and it makes me a right grumpy short tempered bast . . . well, you get the picture.

If it means you can't drive your motor then i'd be happy to look after it for a while.. make sure it doesn't seize up

But you haven't completed the "Torsen Appreciation Society" membership entry exams!

This is going to twist my melon now then, was there some other revision to the later GTI engines that I'm confusing this with :undecided:

Nope.  You arn't getting confused with the different engine codes though?  On the early Mk5 GTI, they had the AXX engine, whereas the later ones were the BWA.  They are all the same basic 200PS belt driven lump though.  Even the latest Audi S3 still uses the TFSI (codes BHZ and CDL for the 265PS version).

oh i don't think I have the energy for another haldex discussion today

No play in an RS4 for you then!

What . . . where . . .

I think you'd be very surprised.  The RS4 is surprisingly fuel efficient, considering its weight and its V8 lump.  The FSI system really does give noticeable improvements over the V8 S4 (which has the same basic engine).  I was able to get 32mpg out of mine a few months back, when the fuel prices were skywards.

And with the current economical climate, residuals on big cars with big petrol engines really have taken a major hit - even RS4s.  You could pick up a two year old for late £25s - cheaper than a new R32.  A buyers market mean peeps just arn't going for big cars - and my local stealer has a new RS6 avant on their fourcourt for about 8 months unsold - a V10 twin turbo RS6, and they just can't shift it.  Pointless trying to make any kind of offer on new RS's though - Audi UK would rather have them collecting dust (and bird sh!t) rather than discounting any RS models.  2nd hand RS's are a different matter though - offer £2½k less than screen price, and most stealers would take it.  It is not being able to shift stocks of big cars that are driving many stealers to the wall.

Unless you want to give me yours

Join the queue!

Nice to see you back T_T.

At least the curtain airbags worked on that RS4.

One thing I noted after taking a Scirocco for a test drive is that the engine is smoother at the top end of the rev range.

Thank Audi for that - it was they who developed this latest engine.
