My first Golf :-D
« on: 19 January 2009, 23:37 »
Hey guys, just joined the ranks, just bought DAVEMARX's mk2 GTI he had up for sale. Was gonna insure it and drive it home, but insurance company, who said they shut at 8pm, and would phone me at 15 to and see if I wanted to go ahead with it, were shut before 10 to, so gotta insure it tomorrow morning, take it down the garage to get new tyres and tracking, then WAYHEY!!

Nice one and welcome. I hope you have more joy with it than Dave did. I think he lacked a little patience, and you need it with our old bangers. Mine included!

Patience is one thing I have, money on the other hand :(

This is my second car, first was a mk3 Fiesta that was sat in a yard for a year and a half (not sure if it was even turned over) while I got off my ass to start lessons lol. In the year I've had it, it had a cutting out problem (which turned out to be a relay) first time it cut out, I'd been driving a couple weeks and I was doing 70 on the motorway, and it just died. Was doing it a couple times a month until we found out what it was back in September-ish, the electrics are failing all over the car, no dash lights, front o/s indicator decides not to work every now and again

But still, onto better horizons... not sure what I'm gonna do with this, keep it as is, or change it around a bit...prob not for a couple months

My second car was a GTi.  Couldn't really afford to do anything to it after insurance(ouch).  11 years on things are a little easier!

Welcome to the happy world of Golfwagens (as my little girl calls em!)

lol i had the patience just didnt have the cash and time to get it done, true i got a bit pissed of with it at times but its more to do with the sh!t around me really plus im of to ireland in a few weeks to work so i needed the money and i got an 88 polo coupe ive had for 4 years waiting there for me in a shed proberlly fu**ked and in a right mess.

If things go well tho when i get back im gettin another 1 probally a valver but gettin a really good 1 this time, my old 8v was a great car and looked the dogs bollocks thanx to my 6 hour buffing pre alot of time ,blood sweat and tears. But it started to show its age and started getting alot of problems, it really needed a full time mechanic to look after it. Now thanx to rich and his dad that has become a reality.

Hopefully its the first of many golfs for ya rich but if it dont work out and your gettin rid phone me first u never know i might just take it back. It was mental not seeing it outside this morning, great car keep it standard and low tidy up the dents and engine chuck on some ra's, pukka
