Horn relay, mk3
« on: 20 January 2009, 15:04 »
My horn stopped working a few months back when i was pressing it. I have bought new horns for both, but it still dont work. When i press the horn button i here a click noise from around the fuse box, would this indicate the relay has gone? Is it a good idea to look here next to replace the relay to get it to work? Or is there another comment fault?

Cheers

Mike

swap the 2 '53' relays over, if it still doesnt work I'd say you have a wiring fault.  If it does work then its the relay. Actually I say swap the 53 relays over but that assumes you have 2, if not you'll need to find another one!  Check for 12v at the horn plug when pressed too.  IIRC the horns get a constant 12v feed and they're earhted?

Cheers, thought i would just check the fuses, turns out the fuse is shagged, and now have it working, although the horns are not fitted.

it says the fuse also does a cooling fan? so this hasnt been working, is this bad? lol!

sorted, once you're moving along fan isnt required anyway!  Mine was busted for god knows how long on my 1.6, and that was in the middle of summer! Luckily for me i hadn't got caught in traffic.
