side wall damage :-(
« on: 20 January 2009, 10:43 »
Had a slight wobble at all speeds coming through the steering, at first I thought it was engine hesitancy or something....eventually took it to my local (and very trustworthy) tyre place.....

Near side front Goodyear Asymmetric Eagle F1 with less than 3000 miles on it, totally fooked.....I am gutted. Looks like I have hit a pothole at some point and it has pinched the side wall  There is a bulge on the sidewall near the edge of the tyre...funnily enough now I know its the tyre, the wobble increases in frequency with the speed.

Onto Blackcircles now to get a replacement quick as I can, looking like £134 ish all in, fitted and balanced.

Let the fun begin........Red Gti, full colour coding, DSG, Xenons, Winter pack, Lux pack, Highline, Sat Nav, Sunroof, Leather, Milltek, ABT rear valance, Goodyear F1 Asymmetrics....pescaras :-)

I know what you mean. Other European countries seem to keep their roads on good condition. Another point, where is all the extra money going from the new road tax system? Not being spent on the roads for one............
Bye Bye Edition 30

Had the same issue over Christmas, damaged sidewall in a pothole the size of a ditch.  Had the tyre replaced as it is a safety issue.

Took pictures, reported it to the council, who admitted they knew about it, received a claim form and sent it in, awaiting a cheque.

Keep the wheel and tyre if you replace them as evidence.  I am 'sure' you know what pothole did it!!!
and am sure it was a big one! Take some pictures and claim.

Just to round this off. As above I had pothole damage and 2! balloons sticking out of my side wall

I just got a new asymmetric fitted from etyres, they weren't the cheapest but at £7 dearer than the cheapest I could find online they came to my office and fitted within 24hours of order.  Blackcircles couldnt fit until friday and it would have meant a drive to their dodgy fitting centre. Mytryres couldn't even give me a date yet!!

Still, at least its safe...the fitter dude was after an ed30 I told him to check on here!!!

The wheel went into balance, so I guess my flatspot is not that bad, however he did say there was still a wobble...I would have thought that this would mean that it couldnt be balanced?  Was on a conference call at the time of getting the car handed back so couldnt really quiz him extensively.

Cant afford to mince around with yer boots eh?
