Drivers door wont open

My mates mk4 golf drivers door wont open from the inside or outside but the passenger door is fine and the central lockin works fine

He cant get the door card off with the door bein shut. Is there a way to open the door

you can still dismantle parts of the door with the door card intact

the door trigger surround can come off.. you might be able to see what's going on there, also the armrest/switch panel with the finger plate can be unscrewed to give you a bit more access.
