PAS hoses
« on: 09 January 2009, 09:59 »
Anyone know or have links to info on the PAS systems that have been used on MK4's?  I've got a small leak in one of the hoses, but don't really want to pay out for dealer price replacements.  I'm more than happy to wait until one comes up from a salvage car, but could do with figuring out if there were differences?

Or, if I get one from the same engine code, is that a guarantee to fit?

There's currently one on e-bay that looks similar (but from a MK4 R32), but without taking mine off completely I'll not know.  And then I'll be without power steering until I get it back on or replaced..

Can you see the part number on the hose? It ma be worth getting a VW price just because sometimes it is surprising!

What, under all the gunk

Good point though, any idea where abouts it'd be stamped on the PAS hose?  From my searching on here I saw they were about £120, which is way more than I want to spend!

If that looks the same, and your two cars and the R32 are the same, it must be the same PAS system on most if not all.

Price delivered please mate   If it's cheap enough it's worth the risk.

Price then please mate

Nope, I live slap bang in the middle! Previous owner took it from 33k-170k, and they only live 15 miles from me.  TBH, the pics are showing the worst of the underneath, rest is pretty reasonable.  The undertray is missing too, so that's prob not helping matters.
