mk2 golf advice needed please
« on: 07 January 2009, 11:00 »
Hi

I've been offered a mk2 1.6 cl for 50 quid, undecided whether to take it or not as it has a few probs. Apparently the level sensor in the expansion tank has gone, causing the coolant system to need constantly topping up. Also the speedo has stopped working. I think the bodywork is ok, i need to go look at it cos if its rusted to buggery i'm not interested. Its an 89 model, in black 3 door. Had 85k on clock before speedo stopped a couple of months aho. Thinking it could be a good project, but what else should I look for?

Apart from the bodywork how easy are these bits to fix? I'll be new to mk2s so would appreciate some advice.

Cheers

Take it! You can sell the engine for £75+  and other bits and bobs for more.
Passat B5.5 2.3 V5 170, with all the extras.

Want some online storage? Click here to sign up for a Dropbox account.

But for the purest engine experience, displacement has no replacement. All other methods are simply attempts to artificially recreate the benefits of displacement.
