High line is NOT standard and yes there are two different types of computers, high line and mid line which look like:

Midline -

Highline -

As you can see they look slightly different and you can so slightly more with the highline adjusting a few more bits and bobs.

If you download the R32 pdf brochure it has the Pirelli GTI spec listed as well  The Pirelli GTI had rear tints, centre arm rest and Ipod doc (not sure about the last one) as standard over the Edition 30. The price of the Pirelli did reflect this though.

Bye Bye Edition 30

I made a table in excel using the price configurator thing for the mk5. If I can get it up on here, you'll be able to see the extras that you can pay for, but not what came as standard (most sites advertising the GTI will have those listed as "features").

Brilliant thanks for this. Is my understanding correct, if a car has the MFSW then it means it also has highline display which you need if wanting to retrofit bluetooth phone pack? Also do all ed 30's with DSG have paddle shifts?

Thanks for bearing with my newbie/annoying questions

You can have a MFSW with the midline computer however you lose some function such as being able to change track number from the steering wheel. TBH most people that speced a MFSW also speced the highline so its unlikely you will find one without although I know of a member on here who has midline with MFSW.

All DSG GTIs come with paddle shifts.

As I recall, it was an optional extra.

On the first of the original GTi, yes .... but I thought they were standard on all DSG Edition 30's  ??

It was an option at first but was standard later on

Tried going onto VW and speccing a new one but the MK5's have been replaced with the MK6..... don't suppose nayone has a list pretty please? For instance does high line come as standard and is there even any such thing?

Many thanks

I think I have a list of all the options and prices somewhere....I'll try and dig it out over the weekend if I get chance and post my findings

Here's what I had:

I tried to get it up as a table within the post but failed multiple times. Note that I couldn't be arsed to ctrl+r some of the prices over from pirelli to ED30 but they're the same cost.
