Washer jets

There is no power going to the motor for my washer jets, I've been advised that I need a new switch for this.
Where is the switch located in the car please?

The switch is the unit you pull to make it operate
Its the right hand stalk.
If I were you, before I go replacing stalks, I'd check the fuses/relays. Then I'd check that the two spade connectors on the motor are not rusted and that there is a decent contact - check this by getting a multimeter on the two points and have someone else hold the stalk on. Lastly, put 12v direct onto the two pins of the motor itself to check its working right.

Ok, installed new relay about a week ago which got my wiper jets working.
They stopped again today.
Remebered I had a later spec set of stalks lying around, so decided to try and install them, but realised the connections are completely different. What is the best way to install later spec stalks into an older Golf?
Thanks.

do you mean you have the wee spindly stalks and want the later chunky type? If so you can get them from a later model MK2 thats earlier than 1990, the chunky stalks came in around 86ish. Then in 1990 the entire wiring loom changed to CE2 and the plugs on the stalks changed, though they look the same apart from having a hazard switch on top.

Thanks.
Sorry if I was unclear earlier.
I actually already have the chunkier stalks atm, but would like to know what would be the best way to install them onto my car.
Thanks

yeah there are chunky stalks that will plug straight into your car loom, 87-89 Golf or Scirocco MK2

Ah right, so the ones I have must be from one of the updated loom models.
I imagine that if you had the right connections then they would be handy enough to re-wire so they will fit my car?

well they wont bolt to the lock carrier either, so you need to change that, which means you also have to ree-wire the ign switch. and the 90spec lock carrier wont bolt to the pre-90 outer column, so you need to choip the lug off or fit a 90 spec one.
If you overcome all of those other problems then yeah its not too hard

petrolh34d, whereabouts are you, I need a set of the late stalks. I also have a mate who has loads of bits available, I'm sure we could arrange an exchange that will help everybody. Just a thought, let me know.
