Right I had better give an update...Yeah I did get home, with my car for that matter but not by driving it lol

***Picture a red mk2 on the back of a 911 Recovery Flatbed***

(Haven’t got a card reader just now but will upload the pic and let you all have a chuckle when i do )

Basically after trying everything that rubjonny mentioned above I still couldn’t get the car started so called out the RAC.

The chap arrived and pretty much just repeated what I'd already done still to no avail. Then one last try giving the top of the MAF a hit and it jumped into life....for about 10seconds.

Managed to get it going a  second time and was running for a good while so thought it was fixed, RAC left, I got in to head off did about 400m, then cut out again.

I took the MAF out and had a play and tbh it didnt even look like it was sticking but oiled it up and dropped it back it....still nothing....end result is flatbad came to get me and took me home, 10hours after planning to set off I got back

I'm really not sure what’s wrong with it. I'm getting a spark all the way to the plugs. Fuel is coming through as the plugs were wet when I took them out. The headgasket is on the way out (I think) I could hear a slight misfire as well (this cleared tho once it had been running for a few seconds). One possibility is that as the headgasket isn’t 100% I'm getting a bit of moisture in (when it does run there is quite a lot of white smoke). It may have got to the stage now were too much mositure is getting in for it to start  :undecided: ???? (was hoping it would hold out until summer lol)

I've got another MAF here now (cheers for the offer buddy)...will try that today to see if it makes a difference but I dont think it will. I'm not even convinced it’s the headgasket that’s causing the problems....anyone any ideas?

Seems to be priming, turns over, seems to be getting a spark but no bang?

the fact bashing the afm made it run suggests to me the problem is there, or with the wiring to it.  Pull back the rubber boot from the AFM plug and make sure non of the wires are frayed :)
