Title: Delayed reaction
Post by: R32_T on 10 June 2004, 19:20
A funny thing happend to me today. Was on me way to work and I thought let me give it some, seen the temp was on 90, kitted out corsa in front of me, so decided to put me foot down. There was no reaction for at least 2 seconds, then the power came and it was fine once it got going. But for those 2 secs, what was it doing??

Any advice or answer would be appreciated.

Thanks

It takes a little time for the turbo to spool up and build boost, 2sec seems a bit long tho. Is it a standard turbo ?.
Steve.

I had that problem though mine wasn't as long as 2 seconds!

I just came back from a r/r session today, and the car is driving much nicer now, I had too much boost apparently? But I don't really know too much about engines as such I just love driving and can feel when somethings wrong, have a look at the thread, title: I took my car for a drive today.  http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?board=9;action=display;threadid=9807

Sorry I can't be of any more help!!

did it splutter at all ? what rpm were you at when you planted your foot ?
Dodgy/dirty MAF sensor can cause hesitation/lack of power.. find someone with vagcom and check for faults.

Chris.

Cheers guys. Its a standard turbo, it felt like there was nothing there when I put my foot down, just shifted down into 2nd from 3rd just over 2000 rpm seeing there was a dual carridge coming up thats when it happend. It happend before but I didn't think anything of it. But now its really p!55ing me off!!
