sounds like your rear wash wiper is leaking - common problem - the hose pops off as it freezes, you then use the washer and nothing happens as the pressure blows the pipe off cauing it to leak over the boot switch

hmm.. my rear wiper is working but its squirting the water from the middle to the left, but it wont go to te right side so it must've moved as it used to squirt straight up

your wiper is broken then, even broken ones still leak, best bet is to use the rear wiper (with spray) and then check the inside of the boot for leaks.

vwspeed sell a repair kit, but it only works if you've a certain type or wiper motor, alternatively £25 down a breakers

the boot pin switch is built into the boot lock mechanism
moisture gets into it and causes corrosion across the pins in the lock
easiest way round it would be to remove the boot trim panel on the tailgate and unplug the little black plug in the boot mechanism this will stop it from false alarming
as to fix it requires a new boot lock
you have ultrasonic protection front and rear so you would still trigger the alarm if someone was to open the boot

How Bizarre! Picked up a 2002 GT PD today (Oh my god it's fantastic, but aren't the doors heavy?). The 70 miles between Norfolk and Suffolk, no probs. Lock it up outside mine, alarm goes off after an hour. Unlock, and Lock, and all things well.

Go out tonight, and the luggage compartment flickers like a good un. the boot, and the locking mech is indeed wet. Dried using paper towel and a blast of WD40, and it's not gone off in the last 30 mins, but am hoping to have a good nights sleep.

Will be a stern call to the stealers where I bought it from tomorrow, I can tell you!
