Guess you've got to remove the head at least to replace the gasket, then send it off for crack testing before refitting.

Assume its got the proper amount of anti freeze in it as well?

There may be a hairline fracture in your head thats pressurising the coolant system, this may also allow water into the oil......

You can get the coolant tested for carbon dioxide, that will shed more light.

just skim the head and put a new gasket in with new bolts. these heads rarely crack  and if it has you see it between the valve seats

I'd pressure test the head, the tool is only about £15 from Halfords.

Sounds more like water is getting in through the oil cooler than the head?

If its spitting water out of the dipstick i wouldnt think that would be oilcooler, its more likely a faulty headgasket overpressuring the cooling system, my mate had it on his and it was spraying coolant out of everywhere!

I wouldnt drive it around with the head gasket gone car wont last long. Get the head skimmed and a new gasket doesnt cost alot if you take the head off and take it to an engineering place there the cheapest
