Howdy,
Some scroat has stolen two of my original dust caps from my mk5 gti, does anyone know where I can get a new set, looked on flea bay but no joy.
I will tighten these with pliers and keep them in the car as I cant believe someone would go to the effort!!
They are the original metal ones, hex type,
any help would be appreciated ,thanks

From your local VW dealer :)

Got mine from Halfords. They just spin round until you insert the key into the middle. Still get them off but it takes some effort.

Pointless replacing them to be honest unless you can get some where you tighten a screw into the dust cap. Some little sh!t always manages to get them though and might scratch your car doing so...just go with plastic ones.

lovin you new signiture sentance Sharpie. Best one yet
I bought a pack from halfords, locking key to remove it, imposssible to remove without as the hole outside shell just spins without coming off even if spun on by a couple of threads.

I bought a Miltek from a forum member who's business was in Blackpool. Once collected I parked up on the front and went to the McDonalds for some food. When I returned some plebeian had nicked the two passenger side caps
I replaced all 4 (2 spares for future!) from VW for less than £1
I'd managed to avoid going to Blackpool for all of my 36 years and hopefully for another 36

I had my tyres fitted by a mobile fitter recently and made a point of telling him to swap the metal caps over to the new valves, which he duly did but forgot to do the last wheel giving it a plastic cap. It was several days before I noticed
I also lost the plastic caps on my old R32 the same way being that they were special ones which you could check the pressure without taking them off.
Got some metal halfords ones to replace them, although they are not as nice as the VW ones.

Bought these from flea bay for £2.25 delivered, got them and they look very similar, tied them on tight with the pliers!!
Just think some lucky Chav may get two golf gti metal dust caps for their Grifter this Xmas!!

if you tighten them to much you will damage the thread, wont the metal/plastic ones warm up and get stuck ?
