Title: How do you remove the gear stick gator?

As per the thread title. Does anyone know how you remove the gear stick gator?

The gaitor, knob and frame are normally one part.  The frame will normally pull up from the centre console and the gaitor/knob are attatched by a crimped ring onto the splined shaft.
