Hi Guys
How much money would it take to bring a standard GTi T up to 200bhp.
I know some of you are near enough this and pushing more and just wondered how much it cost you to get this.
cheers

Tell us a little more about your car.
a 2000 onward 150bhp model will see 200bhp from a chip/remap alone. Cost = ?350 - ?500
1998-1999 model will need a chip/remap and an exhaust so as above + ?300 ish, *may* need uprated CAT and downpipe and that's another ?400.

Nearly forgot.. add on the price of an uprated diverter valve to handle the extra boost, ?40 - ?90.

cheers for the answer.
I havent actually got the car yet, originally thinking of a non turbo and was curious about the turbo version.
I have another question for you if you dont mind
what kind of 0-60 time does a 200bhp mk4 have and what max speed?
i know these are just figures which we should get too bothered about but its just something to think about thats all.
cheers again

alrite mate
i wouldnt consider the mk4 gti non turbo personally, there as slooooooooow as hell, 0-60 in about 9.4 seconds, doesnt really deserve the gti badge
IMO
but i think the mark 4 turbo is a pretty cool car, re mapped and the full exhaust sytem and it should go well :D

Before i fitted the bigger turbo i was running a smidgen above 200bhp
Never timed the 0-60.. if i had to guess i'd say as quick as a vr6.. so around the 7 second mark. It's the mid-range torque you notice more after being chipped, soon as you hit 3000 rpm you get kicked back into your seat, even in 5th gear.
Top speed.. i lost my bottle at 140mph.. probably wouldnt get above 145.. private test track of course *cough*

m45 is private tho :P

If you think 9.4 seconds is bad, the 10.5 second 2.0 8v Mk4 doesn't even deserve the 'golf' badge. lol
P.S. I'm quite pleased with my 1.8 non turbo ;)

Yeah to be honest the non turbo version is ok, not super fast but quite nippy.
I've got the newer 2.0 20v in my new Passat, its nothing like the vr but i must say i was surprised by the performance.
