Title: New STD Back box for MK2 8v GTI
Post by: Ukpitbull on 07 June 2004, 13:51
Iv gotta replace my old back box as its just started blowing. I want to keep it standard. Is it best to stick with the origional and get it form VW or are the ones from GSF Car parts etc just as good?

The thing I always do is just check the price difference.
If there is nothing between them go for VAG. ;)
I got a new wheel arch trim and it was cheaper from Hayselden VW in Doncaster than it was from GPC :o

I got quotes from my local exhaust dealers for the same box, who are normally way way cheaper than Vw. One quoted ?60, one ?50, and I got it from vw for ?45. They tend to have got quite competitive on basics like brake pads/oil filters, exhaust parts etc.
