Title: 16v Won't start!
Post by: LPG'd Oakie on 07 June 2004, 12:10
Hi Guys/Girls,

Just got a non running 16v and am after some help!

When I turn the ignition, the engine turns over, but there is no spark to the plugs.

Using the lead from the coil to the dizzy, there is one spark, then nothing.

The black plastic clip (hall sender?) on the side of the dizzy has been snapped off, but is still attached with the wires, and the fuel pump can be heard priming when the ignition is turned.

what should I be looking into....(apart from a new car!)

Is fuel getting to the filter?

If there is a spark from the coil to the dizzy, but no spark to the plugs , then you need a new hall sender, or if you can't be bothered then just buy a new dizzy.

Thanks,

I found that the old one had lost one of its wires, so replaced that.

Now I have a spark, and have still got fuel, but it still won't start

Anybody else?

You have spark at the cylinders?
If so check ignition timing.
