Title: Ipod connectivity options
Post by: Obbzi on 01 December 2008, 14:50
I've just bought a Mk5 R32 with the uprated head unit (6 disc in head unit 510?)

Is there any leads I can buy to connect an ipod?

Changer is part of the head unit, its all in one unit. You just keep feeding 6 CD's into the slot

Cheers for that!

How easy is it to remove the factory fitted HU?

its a bit fiddly
you need to remove the sensor in the top centre dash trim (pops out)
there is a T20 torx screw inthe hole
then you need to unclip that
and also unclip and remove the lower trim surrounding the heater controls
then there is 4 T20 torx screws holding in the h/u

you could always buy an IO. wirelessly streams music from your phone or ipod via bluetooth, no messy wires ect all hiden in dash. £150 fully fitted from halfords. this dobles as a handsfree kit and you can connect your ipod and phone at the same time, so you can stream music from your ipod then when you get a call the music cuts out and you can answer your cal.
