Hello all, I need some advice / opinions!
I'm due my 2nd service (2yrs/20,000 miles) in a month or so.
I've bought 5 litres of Castrol Edge 5w30 to take care of the oil change, as last time it was changed they put Shell in.
My main worry is, i'm on t&d service, not longlife, do I have the correct oil? I've checked the manuals I received with the car and the specification of the oil type for t&d service is different to that on longlife service plan.
I'd gladly put the Edge 5w30 in, as I am led to believe it is right & best for the car, however will the people at the garage see this the same way and just fill it up with the oil I bought, or will they say, 'you've bought the wrong oil' and 'it could screw your warranty'??
What do you guys think?

You've bought the right oil (it's specified for Longlife but is superior quality than specified T&D oil). No problem at all with warranty. If you doubt the dealers integrity, watch them do the oil or take it elsehwere.

Thanks Cass
I'll insist they put it in if they kick up a fuss, or like you say go elsewhere!

Dammit cass beat me to it. Apparently the LL oil is better to use and that all VW cars are supposed to be serviced using LL.

Was it a VW service center that put in the Shell oil?
-
Dealer put Shell oil at my first service but it was to VW spec. On Castrol Edge 5w30 LL now though

Yeah, they changed me from LL to T&D, cause i wasnt doing enough miles
They put Shell in, only cost £26, so it can't have been that good, considering you pay around £13 for a litre of Castrol Edge!

Yep, Mill VW (now Pulman) in Sunderland
