Below the left rear leght is a foam box, straped on, looks a part of the car, once opened it looks like a motor or something with wires, so i quickly put it back :) Any ideas what it is? (you can tell I am new at this:)

Thanks guyz, what a strange place to put it :) Did they forget it until last minute and run out of romm, and thought I know we will chuck it in the boot? :)
take care

Does it always sound really noisey? like a hippo on a tractor or is that just mine?
-
Yep they are all noisy hence the foam box to deaden it down a bit. Yep they all sound like a tractor but if yours sounds like it has a hippo on it there may be something wrong ;)

Thanks, well no hippo, I just went a bit over the top :)
Are these vacume pumps?

Yep that's right, the central locking on the mk2 operates using a vacuum system.

If you trink thats noisey, wait till you here electric wing mirrors for a mk2, loud enough to give grannies heart attacks at bus stops ;D

those mirrors are really noisey! I thought there must be something wrong with mine. I hardly adjust them now seeing as they're about right where they are.

Hehe, i could hear my vros when i was sitting in the study!! Im thinking loooooaaaaaaaaddds a grease to maybe shut them up, but as it's my bros car, i aint to bothered
*ponders sinking in seat when Ed decideds to adjust mirrors and im in the car* ;D

I have a loose wire on the passenger's side I haven't fixed for months now. the mirror only moves when it feels like it :(
