Weirdly enough usually when its wet out but I realise that the water shouldnt have anything to do with it. Going round corners the steering will suddenly get very stiff. Ive jacked it up and noticed that the steering gator is split but theres still grease in there but turning the wheels with them off the ground and from lock to lock its very notchyand not smooth. Im thinking the worse and come to conclusion its probably the steering rack but would like some expert advice please chaps/chapesses. Its an 8v with power steering if it makes any difference..thanks

Dohh, just done a search and realised that its probably the belt that was slipping cos I havent checked it for 6months :undecided:Still like to know if the rack is on its way out cos of the notchiness?
-
Yep, mine does this when the belt splash panel isn't attached. Perhaps yours hasn't got one fitted? If you have got one, then just fit a new belt.
-
Yep.
Tighten yur belt up for now. They are easy to tighten from underneath. Replace if looking a bit ancient.

Tightened it up this morning and all seems good. Two problems I have then is that the adjuster bolt snapped last year and I replaced it with a normal bolt. Just meens I have to loosen all the pump nuts and lever the pump then tighten and its not fitted with a splash guard :undecided: Any ideas where I can find these two bits please?

Breaker's or there may be someone breaking one on ebay or on here.
