Jus got back from work and noticed steam from under the driver's side of the bonnet.
Had a quick peek with torch and its a lot of coolant sprayed allover the airbox, alternator and parts of the engine.
I have checked the 2 pipes from the radiator and they are bone dry??
Is there something else I should be looking at?? The only oddity of late has been the squeaky fanbelts!
-
it'll be water pump, ether the lower uninon ( thermostat houseng ) the o ring that joins the pumps and block water ways, the small bastard pipe from water pump to metal water pipe ( change this anyway if you have the pump off its a sod when it fails at later date ) or the water pump itself
-
Cheers Danny,
Waterpump, thermostat and housing was changed last year!
I still goto drive to work tommorow, is it ok to top up the water and hit the road?
Can only look at this on the weekend!
-
it's not optimal but will probaly get away with it just make sure you have some more water with you just incase it starts developing faster
-
Cheers mate, will keep an eye on it and take her slow tommorow
-
sh!tty Journey into work...
steaming allover the show and the car was running at high temps...
I have a feeling the thermostat may be stuck too
aaaaargh!
Also got a journey home to look forward to!
-
Good luck with that one  Just take it steady mate! How far do you have to go?
-
You checked the expansion cap?
-
25miles, all on the motorway though then a a few miles of b roads..
I jus bypassed the fan switch with some wire, at least the car wont heat up, had a bit of a scare in the morning... temps got to 128
Wanna open her up tommorow and have a proper look...
expansion cap, coolant tank, waterpump, thermostat, housing and rad got changed last year, which is why im kinda angry at the car! (stupid as it sounds!)
Pissed precious G12 juice allover the company car park :embarassed:
-
At least it should be easy to find the leak.
-
i would proberly put my money on the expansion cap letting out some coolant cos the thermostat was stuck shut causin it to boil, i hope for you anyway because it is the cheapest thing to go wrong, let us know how you get on with it.
-
Is the headgasket ok? My mate had this problem with his and turned out to be the headgasket overpressurising the cooling system and it was spraying coolant from quite a few places
-
Turned out to be the top rad pipe which was split!
8 quids from GSF, not bad at all
