right here we go lol i got an 02 1.8t not 20v version engine code aum i read the other da to put an aftermarket exhaust on my motor i need a rear valance from a 4 motion gof is this correct?and secondly will there be the need to cut any metal away from the body work if i fit a aftermarket exhaust?any one know where to get the rear 4 motion valance online ?
-
Unless there's one on ebay you'll have to go to a vw dealership for the valance (they call it a bumper spoiler) costs around ?40.
When you bolt it up you'll see that the original carrier on the passenger side needs to be practically cut in half (pair of good tin-snips will do it). The other bolt hole in the carrier isn't threaded so you'll need to stick a new nut on it, but it lines up perfectly with the hole in the new valance.
Chris.
p.s: the towing eye recess doesn't line up but it's hardly noticeable, especially if you colour-code the valance or paint the towing eye black.

thanks for the reply this is the exhaust im intrested in do you think its a good one or just bs from the seller regarding the valance?http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/ebayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7904019541

Not quite sure what you're asking mate ?
You need the 4mo valance because it has the cutout for the tailpipes, which the GTI valance does not. You could cut the original but it'll weaken it and warp over time.
There's a guy on here who has that same exhaust, can't remember his name though, he hasn't reported any problems from it. Blue Flame are generally pretty good.

yeah i have blueflame exhaust from cat back and well pleased with it .
i have made my existing rear valance homemade cut out .. look nice and smart.
-

thanks mate fitted nicely, only query i got is is it supposed to sound loud or will it in time when it s been on for a while?
-
It's meant to be loud, you had the luxury of a practically silent exhaust before.. don't worry you soon get use to it.
Chris.
-
lol the version i got is not loud, nigel at bluefame told me "Sadly not designed as a loud one, however, if you invest in the motorsport downpipe with 100 cpsi power cat - the engine note will sing and you'll gain 18bhp.
price is ?200 + vat.
This should do the trick"
anybody used anything similar and will it pass mot's ok with these fitted?
-
i have a milltek sport cat and 2.5 inch d/p which is very similar, and will sail through an MOT. can't really comment on any noise increase because i had it all done at the same time. i think generally people say it does get louder though.

might get it done then lol
