Hi,
Been offered a H reg 16vGTi for ?300, but needs some minor bodywork, and the engine doesnt run.
I have a 8V on an E plate, which I would need to sell to get the H plate.
I have found the required body parts to make the H reg near immaculate, they will cost me ?100, the engine may cost a little more to repair.
GFive me some help, its such a dillema!

buy the volvo, absolutely definate thats the way to go :P
-
Aye,
Thought so too, its just gotta be yellow tho! ;)
-
yeh yellow volvos look wicked. proper rare too, plenty of room in that engine bay for a nice phat conversion too :D
edit: welcome to the site btw, get comfy and enjoy ;D

go for the 16valver if you can sort it out mate, ???
always a bit risky buying a car that you cant here run, bcos you dont know what else mite be wrong with it.
bring a a mechanic or somebody that knows there stuf with you to determine what the problem is.
but the valver is a late spec one, so once you have sorted the problem ull be sorted! 8)

If i could vote twice i would say get the 16V AND the Volvo. I reckon it would be fun to do up the 16V, and Volvos are pretty cool, ish!!! I'm sure that very few people will agree with me, but, have theyy ever driven one??!
-
i've voted for keep the 8v.
i'd say, unless you can raise the cash to get the 16v and get it running right before getting rid of your 8v dont bother.
after that, the most important thing to do is to find out -why- it doesnt run.

ive driven volvos, i dont find anything special about them - i dont think u can compare them to vw's at all
-
At least you've driven them though. People nrmally just say hey are sh*t without knowing. Thats what black_gti would do!! I haven't driven them properly, but it was nicer than my 1.3 cos it had luxuries etc... and was damn fast too!
-
If you can afford to take the risk, do it. I have always wanted a Volvo! ;D

I guess i could say that the only Volvo i've driven is a 240GL 1988 F-Reg, so it is a "real" one!!

Used to work in an antiques centre. Surrounded by volvos. Very easy to load up, fit lots of stuff in. Good for big dogs too. Very smooth auto boxes. Aggressive seat heaters.

id buy the 16v, bits are easy to pick up 2nd hand and cheap as chips
i know somebody who sold his crash damaged 16v for ?100 today

yeah but what states the engine in? it could be a ?5 fix or totally shot..
