Anyone previously had a rattle or clunking sound from the front left/right suspension at 5-10 mph over slight bumps?
I've had my MK3 8V 98 for 6 months and recently noticed the sound on the left side only, at low speeds. Initially done suspension test by pushing bonnet over front wheels, seemed OK.
Unless I get it up on a ramp its difficult to see. Getting hold of a haynes manual to get an idea of layout of suspension which hopefully will shed some light.
Any help appreciated.

Sounds like upper strut bushings. If you get the wheels off the gound (and I don't mean at 90mph ;)) You'll probably notice up/down play with the wheel in question (possibly both to some degree).
The later Mk3 8v's come w/ the better VR bushes, but unless you plan on doing the struts too then it's probably more worth it to just replace it w/ stock. Not too tough, and even with a new wheel alignment shouldn't run you too much.
Oh, and get the Haynes (and/or the Bently) anyway.

I had this problem, try undoing the top mount & putting a large oil seal in then try bet it goes away, that?s a way of making sure its that b4 taking it all apart worked on mine & it passed the MOT like that then I changed it all quite now
